Brake Encoder Applications
Avtron offers several
solutions for mounting encoders on motors with brakes.
Since the brake
typically mounts on the accessory
flange used for many
encoders, we offer: |
|
Modular Encoders: |
 |
Modular encoders are (sandwiched)
located between the
brake and the motor. They
are the most robust solution: mechanically secured to, and
protected by, the brake and motor, they are the most reliable design.
Avtron
encoders feature special advanced magnetic designs to avoid
encoder interference from brake and motor noise. |
|
Available models:
AV850, M56,
M67, M85,
M115 |
| Outboard
Encoders: |
 |
Outboard (hollow shaft)
encoders require a through-shaft and
outboard seal on the brake, and are therefore the least durable solution,
but may be the only solution in some configurations. NOTE: Avtron does
NOT
recommend the use of
modular encoders outboard of brakes because
shaft deflection caused by the brake may result in
magnetic rotor/housing contact
and damage. |
|
Available models: HS25A,
HS35A, M3-(3-9, A-H),
M4-(3-9, A-H), M6-(4-7) |
| Internal
Encoders (hollow shaft and
modular): |
Internal
encoders are available by special
order from
*
brake manufacturers.
Avtron offers internal encoders mounted inside brakes; the hot and
dusty environment inside brakes dictates the need for Avtron’s superior
quality to ensure durability. |
