UNDERGROUND MINING Over the past 20 years, Avtron has installed digital drive systems on every type of hoist and incline conveyor. We specialize in rugged, reliable, and safe solutions for mine applications. We have developed extensive application knowledge and experience to aid mines in achieving maximum performance and uptime. We are proud of the fact that our worldwide installed base includes multiple repeat clients. We can provide specific hardware solutions for any existing drive system including AC and DC drives, MG set field upgrades, and digitally firing any existing analog drive. Upgrades are tailored to the mine’s specific needs, reducing capital expense and providing faster upgrades. Our mining solutions can improve cycle times and uptime, resulting in the most productive hoists and conveyors with the highest availability in the industry.

Avtron provides complete digital drive system upgrades for mine hoists. Our scope of experience includes new AC and DC digital drives, 6- and 12-pulse control, firing modules for existing large DC drives, MG set motor and generator field supplies, industry-standard PLCs, operator desks with display (HMI), electronic overspeed protection (Lilly replacement), high speed breakers, transformers, and rugged Avtron pulse encoders. Installations include production, service, and escape hoists. System upgrades result in increased uptime and reliability, better diagnostics, superior load share, and reduced costs with faster startups. We also provide the world’s most rugged encoders for feedback on mine hoists. The M685 encoder eliminates all troublesome optics, misalignment, and couplings, and has replaceable SMARTach (TM) sensors. Avtron can assist the mine in optimizing production with three types of diagnostics: on board ADDAPT 2000 (TM) drive diagnostics, 24 hour remote diagnostic capability over Ethernet (TM), or the new Avtron Performance View (TM) monitoring system.
