Avtron's permanently installed resistive load banks are ruggedly constructed units typically rated between 50KW and 3000KW. Designed for outdoor operation, these units feature highly reliable Avtron Helidyne load elements. These elements are mounted in enclosures equipped with screened and louvered intake and exhaust openings to protect against debris, and are cooled by heavy duty blowers. These units are provided with a gasketed and heated enclosure to protect contactors and other components from condensation related problems. Remote control panels are provided with each unit. Ready for 19" rack mounting or installed in a NEMA-type wall-mount enclosure.

K922 (3000-7000 KW)

Avtron is a leading manufacturer of true medium voltage load banks (model K922A). These units operate at the actual output voltage of medium voltage generators or turbines and therefore do not require large step-down transformers.  A typical module is rated 4 to 6 megawatts and multiple modules are used when tens or hundreds of megawatts are required. Load switching is accomplished using medium voltage vacuum contactors. Voltages from 5kV to 15kV are available.

Also available are conventional load bank and step-down transformer designs (model K875A-MV) mounted on a common structural skid with factory interconnection between the load bank and transformer. This design is typically the most cost effective load bank system for medium voltage testing between 750 KW and 3000 KW. Standard voltages are 2400, 4160, 12470, or 13800 VAC, 3 phase, 60 Hz (other voltages and frequencies are available). Step-down transformers and load banks are also available separately (without skid) for permanent field installation.

The Avtron Advanced Digital Monitoring System (ADMS (TM)) represents the new standard in Load Bank Instrumentation allowing Real-Time Data Acquisition and Data Logging from customer laptop PC, or PDA.

ADMS is a Multi-Function Digital Power Meter that provides 3-line digital display of Voltage, Current, Frequency, and Power Measurements. Unlike conventional meters, the large 0.56" extra-bright LED's allow the user to clearly monitor the meter display under any condition 24/7. The meter faceplate features an optical IrDA port for data transfer and comes complete with an IrDA/USB adapter for "plug and play" convenience. Meter parameters are captured from the IrDA port and can be downloaded to your PC or PDA. The Communicator EXT software provides Real-Time Monitoring and Data Acquisition from your laptop PC, allowing the user to display meter parameters in Real-Time Trending or Real-Time Data Logging format. Data can automatically be recorded and saved to your computer which can be easily imported into a Windows spreadsheet.

With faceplate, PC or PDA monitoring, this rugged metering system is designed to save both time and money. It virtually eliminates the need to manually record load bank values during a load test.

The ADMS (Advanced Digital Monitoring System) is offered as an option for outdoor/stationary load banks ranging in size from 50-3000 KW.

The Avtron Spirit Load Bank (LSH) is designed for permanent outdoor installation when 50 to 150 KW loading is required. It is ideal for routine load testing of standby diesel generating systems or for factory production line testing of (UPS) Uninterruptible Power Supplies, or engine generator sets. Designed for outdoor installation on a concrete pad, the load bank utilizes a fixed louver on the exhaust opening to protect the blower motor and resistive elements from weather. A remote control panel is provided for load bank operation and includes the necessary controls and status indicators.

The K675A series is designed and built to incorporate the latest state-of-the-art load bank features. It is ideal for high power resistive loading of AC generating systems. The Avtron Model K875A load bank can be utilized independently or as a modular building block for larger systems to meet a variety of power testing requirements. This load bank is ideal for permanent outdoor installation for routine load testing of standby diesel generating systems or for factory production line testing of (UPS) Uninterruptible Power Supplies, turbines, or engine generator sets. It is ideal for high power resistive loading of AC generating systems. The load bank features vertical air discharge for installation in areas where space is at a premium such as the rooftops of high-rise buildings. Weatherproof exhaust hoods provide maximum protection to the resistor cases and blower assemblies.

The Avtron Model K875A-MV load bank system provides a convenient and economical means of testing power sources at utility voltages. Incorporating an integrally mounted step-down transformer, the K875A-MV provides resistive load testing for power sources at 2400, 4160, 12,470, or 13,800 volts (other voltages are available). The single skid mounted load bank system makes it practical for transportation and set up with single point termination of diesel or turbine generator sets. It is used for resistive testing medium voltage power sources in factory production lines or in the field after installation.

The Avtron Model K922A resistive load bank is ideal for testing medium-voltage generators or turbines. Avtron is leading the industry by offering a true medium-voltage load bank while others still supply a conventional step down transformer and a low voltage load bank (typically 480 VAC). A medium-voltage load bank eliminates the need for a costly step-down transformer, which reduces the overall package size and installation cost. It is ideal for high power resistive loading of medium voltage generating systems in factory production lines or test cells. It is designed for permanent outdoor mounting.
