Avtron inductive/reactive load banks (KVAR)
are typically used in combination with resistive load banks (KW) to test
a generator or power source at 0.8 power factor (lagging). The reactive
load bank should be sized at 75% of the resistive load bank KW rating to
achieve a 0.8 power factor. The resistive and reactive load banks are
connected and operated in parallel.
Models such as the
K841 and K841B range from 50 - 1500 KVAR. They are designed for indoor
or outdoor permanent installations and come complete with remote
operator control panels (19" rack mount or NEMA enclosed).
Avtron
inductive/reactive load banks feature non-saturating single phase and
three phase iron core load reactors. |

Control Power: Typical power required for control circuit operation is
120VAC, 1phase, 60 Hz. If 120VAC, 1phase, 60Hz is not available, a variety of single phase
control transformers can be provided as an option.
Blower Power: Blower power is typically provided by an outside source.
Selected load banks are available with blower power derived from the power source under
test.
Metering: A variety of analog and digital metering packages are
available for various models for display of volts, amps, frequency, KW, KVAR, power
factor, KVA, including data logging and acquisition software (consult the factory.)

The Avtron LPS Load Bank System provides an economical and
convenient means for high capacity resistive and reactive load
testing of AC power systems. Many specifications and local codes
demand that such testing be performed at less than unity power
factor, typically 0.8 p.f. To achieve a 0.8 power factor, the LPS
combines resistive load (KW) with reactive load (KVAR). This
combination provides a true test of the actual generator or UPS
nameplate rating (KVA) and simulates a "real world" load. The Avtron LPS System is integrated on a
rugged structural skid with provisions for overhead, four point
lifting. |

The Avtron LCV load bank is designed to
provide high capacity resistive and reactive loading of AC power
systems such as diesel generator sets, turbines, or
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Many specifications and
local codes demand that such testing by performed at less than
unity power factor, typically 0.8 p.f. lagging. To achieve a 0.8
power factor, the LCV combines resistive load (KW) with reactive
load (KVAR). This combination provides a true test of the actual
generator or UPS nameplate rating (KVA) and simulates a "real
world" load. The
load bank consists of a rugged ISO style 20 foot container housing
the resistive and reactive components, blowers, associated
controls and interconnections. The unit has a load capacity ratings
of 3750-6250 KVA at 480 VAC, 3
phase, 60 Hz. (Other voltages and frequencies are available -
consult factory.) The unit is PLC controlled with a convenient
hand-held remote controller. Laptop computer control with data
logging is also available as an option. |
